"Sun” installation, the symbol of generosity

A new pearl of Uzbekistan - Samarkand tourist center "Great Silk Road” -  often makes us happy with new remarkable sights.

One of the latest things is the kinetic installation "Sun” in the Congress Hall. The composition embodies the boundless generosity of the East and will certainly decorate the Samarkand tourist center (STC), attracting guests and tourists. The author is an outstanding citizen of Samarkand, the world-famous sculptor Yunus Safardiyar, who spent more than two years for its creation.

It should be noted that the sculptor's artworks have been repeatedly exhibited in different countries of the world, and a number of his masterpieces are included in the collections of the Russian Academy of Arts and ABN AMRO Collection in the UK. Today the artworks of the Uzbek sculptor can be found in public places in a number of foreign cities. 

“The first work of Yunus Safardiyar that appeared in Uzbekistan was a bronze sculpture by Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur, which he donated to the State Museum of the History of the Temurids last year in honor of the 30th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence,” said art critic Sukhrob Kurbanov. – For his work, the master uses various materials – metals and stone, and their subject matter is unusually wide – from ethnic and mythological to historical subjects. But mostly he creates portraits and compositions made in the classical tradition using new technologies. Y. Safardiyar's works are distinguished by refined technique, fantasy and emotionality. Thanks to his talent and skill, today he is one of the most influential sculptors of our time with good reason.

Congress Hall is part of the Great Silk Road complex and has an area of 18,000 square meters. Owing to its dimensions and design, events of various formats, including large-scale international forums, can be held there. So in the near future a board meeting of Heads of SCO (Shanghai Cooperation Organization) Member States will be held here.
