The Grandeur, created by hands of our people
The grand opening ceremony of the International Tourism Center "Great Silk Road" was held in the ancient and eternally young city of Samarkand.
The welcoming speech was addressed to the event participants by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who noted in his speech that the creation of a state-of-the-art magnificent architectural complex built for the ages was made possible thanks to the intellectual potential and selfless work of our people.
The specialists of Enter Engineering Group of Companies, who, despite the challenges of the pandemic, successfully completed the construction within a short time frame, contributed invaluably to the construction of the Samarkand Tourist Center.
The Tourist Center is multi-faceted/multifunctional and comprises 8 modern hotels, a congress hall, the Eternal City complex, an amphitheater and many other facilities. It is capable of serving 2 million tourists a year. Guests can enjoy the sights of Samarkand, improve their health and hold various business events.
The name of the complex "Great Silk Road" has been chosen for a good reason and carries a paramount humanistic significance. It embodies the great role of Samarkand not only as a central crossroads of trade routes, but also as a center, where the cultures of many human civilizations merged together over the centuries!
A special credit is given to the "Eternal City" ensemble, where historical scenes from the times of the Great Silk Road were used in its design. Craft workshops have been set up here. Tourists from all over the world will be able to experience the art of local craftsmen, such as pottery making, silk paper making, jewellery-making and carpet making/weaving which go back to the remote past.
Since its first days of operation, the Samarkand Tourist center will become a venue for major international forums such as the Summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the meeting of leaders of the member states of the Organization of Turkic States. Next year it will host the Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization.
A grand musical program "The Saga of the Eternal City" attended by domestic and foreign craftsmen of an artistry wrapped up the solemn opening ceremony.
