Imam Al-Bukhari Memorial Ensemble is a complex of memorial, cultural, spiritual and educational buildings of the late 20th century, located in the Payaryk district of the Samarkand region. This memorial complex is one of the most respected and recognizable in the Islamic world. The outstanding theologian Imam Muhammad ibn Ismail Abu Abdallah al-Bukhari went down in history as the author of a collection of the most reliable hadiths "Al-Jomi as Sahih", which is considered to be the second by importance Islamic book after the Koran. In 1997-1998, a memorial was built on his ancient mazar to commemorate the 1225th anniversary.
During the visit to the Samarkand region on February 11 this year, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev was informed of construction and improvement of the international research complex and on full reconstruction of the Imam al-Bukhari memorial complex itself.
The reconstruction is carried out by Enter Engineering Group of Companies, the Customer is the Engineering Company under Khokimiyat (local administration) of Samarkand region.
The reconstruction will preserve the current appearance of the mausoleum.
The total area of reconstruction and improvement work is 4.68 ha, build-up area is 2.02 ha, including the underground gallery of 0.35 ha and the courtyard of 0.83 ha. Coverage around the buildings and the green area is 1.72 and 0.44 ha, respectively. At this stage of construction, 442 specialists are involved, including 65 foreign builders, 53 units of special equipment, 3 tower cranes, etc. Engineering is continued in parallel with the construction work.
Also, a mosque is being built for 9200 prayer with four high minarets around the perimeter, an administrative building, a service building, a takhoratkhona (a room for ritual ablution), minarets and iwans (terrace). In the memorial complex, visitors will pray namaz, perform Friday prayers, Ramadan and Eid al-Adha prayers and visit the shrine of Al-Bukhariy. All the necessary conditions are being created for people with disabilities, modern elevators between floors, special ramps, etc. will be provided.
In the course of construction and landscaping work, the appearance of the historical spring and plane trees, which have been growing here for several hundred years, is preserved.
