The annual charity international Samarkand Marathon took place in Samarkand on November 4-5.

The marathon is aimed at the popularization of healthy lifestyle, so this year the race was focused on the widespread involvement of children in hysical activity and sports. All the funds raised will be spent for the construction of children's sports grounds.
More than three thousand participants from all over the world took part in the Samarkand Marathon, and the marathon course was certified by the World Athletics Association (World Athletics) and the Association of International Marathons (AIMS). The start and finish line were located on Registan Square, with the course running through the most picturesque streets of the city, with Samarkand historical sights as natural backdrops. The participants competed on distances of 42.2 km (marathon), 21.1 km (half marathon), as well as 10 km, 5 km (a new distance for people with disabilities) and 2 km, and there were also children's races on distances KIDS RUN.
A large number of corporate teams created a special atmosphere, and among them the team of Enter Engineering Group of Companies performed well. Runners from our company participated in races at several distances.
“Together with my colleagues Leonid Borovskikh and Rustam Agadov, we were running the marathon distance," said Zaur Meldeev, Planning and Reporting Engineer of the Mechanical Engineering Directorate. “We tried to run as a team, supporting each other, and it surely helped us to successfully reach the finish line despite challenging terrain and heavy physical load. I would like to note that all runners from Enter Engineering when meeting on the track warmly greeted and encouraged each other”.
The organizers provided food for the runners - tables with fruits, drinks and isotonics (vitamin complex that helps to support the body during the race) were placed along the route. At the finish line, the runners who met the time limit were awarded marathon commemorative medals.
Thanks to the efforts of the Samarkand Marathon organizers, the program of the sporting event included interesting cultural events as well. And of course, traditional treats also were provided, everyone could visit the food courts and taste the famous Samarkand plov.
It is worth noting that Enter Engineering employees regularly participate in various sports competitions. This demonstrates the great attention paid by the company to healthy lifestyle and wide promotion of physical culture!
